Sam is the Founder and CEO of Adamant Technologies, Inc.. Adamant is a San Francisco based company developing a novel sensor platform that will revolutionize the way that people gain insight into the state of their body. Adamant has recently closed series A financing with Khosla Ventures.
Sam is also the owner of Khamis and Assocites, a San Francisco, CA based company providing consulting and contracting services to high tech companies in the bay area in the fields of measurement and automation, test socket development, MEMS and nanomaterials synthesis. Previously, Sam cofounded Nanosense, Inc in Redwood City, CA where he led research and development efforts on bio-inspired carbon nanotube devices. Under his technical direction the team at Nanosense was awarded $4M in funding through the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s Real Nose program. In 2009, Sam received his PhD in physics at the University of Pennsylvania in the laboratory of Prof. A. T. Charlie Johnson. His research was focused on electronic transport in nanoscale carbon systems, including single walled carbon nanotubes, single walled carbon nanotube networks, and few layer graphene. While at UPenn, Sam invented a technique allowing carbon nanotubes and graphene to be integrated into standard semiconductor fabrication process lines. It was here that he pioneered work on ssDNA-functionalized carbon nanotube chemical sensors. In 2004 Sam graduated from Case Western Reserve University where his senior thesis work focused on designing, fabricating and characterizing a bolometer for detection of cosmic background radiation anisotropies. This sensor architecture is currently deployed in the South Pole Telescope Project. |
